Day 2

It is 11:30 and way past my bed time but I want to get this posted.
We had a long day today of driving leaving Redding at about 7:45 am and getting into Fresno at 8:30 then having dinner. Also had a nice visit with some very nice couple we went to see along with their son and daughter -in- law. They are longtime friends of my Grandpa and Grandma Vchulek. It was nice to see them again and get to know them better. I first met them about 10 years ago. They live up in the area of Clear Lake California. What a beautiful lake, my photos do not do justice to it. Of course taking pictures out of a moving van is not ideal.





It is so dry in California; this is a photo of a creek that is almost dry.
As we were heading to Fresno this evening there was a fire in the middle of hwy 99. The fire department and police had just gotten there and fire seemed to be getting bigger as we drove by it.

We did stop at our first casino today. As we were coming down from Clear Lake there was a very large and busy one so we stopped to “stretch our legs”. Mom and Roy’s favorite “stretch your legs” stop. Mom lost her money and Roy won enough to make up for mom’s loss and come out with a little pocket change. I may have to give up and put my money in those machines but I do hate to lose. I am sure I will have a couple more chances to try it out.
Well enough for tonight. I need to sleep. Will be back with better photos and stories tomorrow.
